"Lord, show us the Father, and we shall be satisfied.” John 14:8

…ἐν ἐσχάταις ἡμέραις…

…“in the last days”…

2 Timothy 3: 1-5

In the fullness of time, when God sent His Only Begotten to us, who were journeying aimlessly through history as a race who walked in darkness and under the shadow of death because of sin, the Son of the Living One was identified as the Word (λόγος).  This “word” is more than a common noun as would be chair, tree, car, etc.  As presented in the Prologue (the beginning) of the Gospel according to John, “the word”, that is, ὸ λόγος, indicates the Divine Word or reason incarnate in Jesus Christ. (John 1:1–14).  This use was already present in contemporary and predating philosophy, understood as the rational principle that governs and develops the universe.  If you notice, λόγος, far from being a static word, is full of dynamism and revelatory effectiveness.

From this, we can infer that the use of words is of the upmost importance and consequence.  Hence, listening to, and using words and the ideas that they convey, is also of profound consequence.  Words, indeed, have meaning, and their meaning has inevitable consequences, whether these be in actions or in neglect to act.

It is wise and, in our times, urgent that we should be discerning as to the words we listen to, be they spoken, or communicated through symbolic language, for there is a battle going on for our hearts and minds, indeed, for our souls, and many voices that require our attention while attempting to silence the Word of the Living One.

In the Gospel according to Saint Matthew, Jesus says, “let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one” (Matthew 5: 37).  This pronouncement of the Lord is particularly apropos and crucially important for these times in which we live, times of language engineering and deceitful manipulation that aims at replacing the truth with ideology.  As I stated above, words have meaning and their meaning has consequences that, in these last days, will determine our eternity.

Subversion is th master craft of the evil one.  Subversion is insidious, stealth, hidden, at first, and unfolding into its perverseness evermore, as it infects and gains control of the hearts of those who are not watchful, while systematically attempting to destroy those who see through its veil of evil.  Subversion is a pull into submission to that which kills our freedom and our desire for the truth; it is a march into slavery.  Subversion makes use of the weapons of deceit, inflicting disorder, not only by what is said, but also by what is not said.  Subversion casts into the air of our times ideas, concepts and even proposals that are not clearly defined, left incomplete, inviting lack of clarity and purpose, rendering fruitful endeavor almost unattainable.  Like all deadly deceit of the enemy, subversion has a point of departure, a dark trajectory and a deadly end.  What follows is my meditation on this dangerous and enslaving road.

Subversion by any other name … The enemy’s strategy

As to thought and ideas: Open to two or more interpretations;  or of uncertain nature or significance; or (often) intended to mislead.

As to choice and action: Uncertain or unable to decide  about what course to follow.

As to right judgement: The doctrine that knowledge, truth, and morality exist in relation to culture, society, or historical context, and are not absolute.

As to what choices to make: The consequences of ambivalence and relativism.  Since we were created for order and absolute life, we find ourselves paralyzed in thought, choice and action  by the consequences of the above stages.

As to life itself: Since we were created in the image of God, Who is Light, Order and Truth,  when we fall to the enslavement of subversion we are derailed from our identity and purpose  and fall into deadness to the reality of the abundant life.  We lose our taste and desire for  that which is of God and cling to what is ephemeral; this leaves us empty and dead.

The above is the strategy of the enemy.  What follows are some of the tactical endeavors of the evil one in its attempt to lead us away from God into its kingdom of darkness and slavery.

The enemy’s tactical weapons in our place and time.

DESTABILIZATION  ✔ (in process)

SUBJUGATION (with the grace of God and our response to the challenge of our time, we need not fall to it)

Be attentive and be warned; the practitioners of the craft of subversion are legion in our time, in the world and in the Church, our Mother, who has been hurt by so many of her sons and daughters, especially those who were consecrated to bring the treasures of the King, entrusted to Her, to all, for the life of the world.  Do not be fooled, the subversives are at work even now.  Beware of half-truths, of ambiguous pronouncements, of ambivalent actions.  These are the tactics of hell.

Then Jesus said to the crowds, “As soon as you see a cloud rising in the west, you say, ‘A shower is coming,’ and that is what happens. And when the south wind blows, you say, ‘It will be hot,’ and it is. You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and sky. Why don’t you know how to interpret the present time?”… (Luke 12: 54-56).

More to come…
